Health and Fitness Week Work Exchange PDF Print E-mail

Thanks for expressing your interest in my "Health and Fitness Week" Work/Exchange program.

The number of people who wish to attend the Health and Fitness Week is steadily growing. I appreciate the support each of you has given me surrounding this event.

Many people ask if there is a way that they can attend for a reduced rate. I understand the issues and appreciate the desire. I attempt to provide for this need by offering work/exchange. Essentially, our work/exchange (w/e) functions like this:

W/E participants will be credited approximately $40/hour for the 36 hours that they will work at
"camp." They will pay the remaining balance to attend the camp experience.

Registration information is here .

W/E participants will be entitled to attend as much of camp as they desire, outside of the 36 hours of
assistance they provide.

Camp starts at 6am most mornings, and ends at 9pm.
W/E participants will arrive one day early.
Camp is a 108 hour event. W/E participants will work approximately one third of that time and be free to participate fully in camp activities for the remainder of the time.

W/E participants will mainly provide kitchen help, including but not limited to: food prep, serving and
clearing meals, clean up, food starage, and maintenance of kitchen and food quality. There may be
other domestic and logistic duties requested on occasion.

W/E participants will learn valuable skills while providing essential assistance. W/E participants will
be able, to some degree, to choose the hours of their work so as to best take part in the camp activities or classes of their preference.

For instance, in order to attend all fitness classes and all lectures, someone might prefer to work as a server during meals. W/E participants who wish to attend the "theory" classes, that is, the lectures, more than the fitness classes, would work before meals, doing prep. W/E participants wishing to focus on the practical more than the theory could work the shift immediately following mealtimes.

There is flexibility in the scheduling. The number of W/E participants will be primarily determined by the number of campers. Most years we are looking for 8 W/E participants to help primarily with kitchen related duties.

$200 off the cost of camp will be credited to W/E participants for every full pay camper that they "send" to camp.

Thank you,
Dr D
