We will stay in a secluded spot, a private retreat center that I have been to many times in the past. There will be double occupancy in most rooms, though privates are also available. The number of fasters is limited to 12, maximum. We are up in the mountains, with spectacular mountain views, and so will get fresh air all the time. Our staff will be interns, people who are interested in learning about fasting and are supportive of it. They will be there strictly to make your fasting experience as good as it can get.
Fasting to start the new year is a great way to begin a new life. You will be monitored daily, and more often when necessary. Become well rested, learn more about health through private daily consultations, have your personal health and fitness questions answered, and fast in a pleasant warm environment that is immersed in natural surroundings. There will be a daily group presentation on health creation as well. Rarely will you hear a manmade sound. Temperatures in January tend to be in the 80's all day and into the 50's at night, when warm clothes are a necessity even with the incredible warmth of the Rio Chirripo fireplaces. We will be arriving at the tail end of the rainy season. Afternoon showers are to be expected. As our visit progresses our visit will get to be predictably drier and warmer. By the time you break your fast there will be little chance of rain.

Each fast will be custom designed, as will realimentation and recovery (generally two weeks or more) from the fast. There is no set length that one must fast, we are simply allowing 36-40 (depending on which event you choose) days for the entire experience, including travel. The length of your fast will be up to you, with Dr. Graham's guidance.
The experience begins the moment you set foot in Costa Rica. We will meet you at the airport and take you to our location, via private transport. Along the way we will make sufficient stops to allow you to experience the flavor of Costa Rica. All your needs will be met. At the end of your visit, we will provide private transport back to San Jose and the airport. All expenses other than your airfare (tourist gifts, phone cards, postage, and tips, etc. are your responsibility) are covered in the one fee.
Fasting in the US is usually considerably more expensive than this. However, nowhere can you get the quality of fruit, comfort, staff, education, or climate that we will provide.
Come enjoy the peace and serenity of Costa Rica for your next fast.
For the January Event: Plan to arrive in San Jose on Jan 1 (Interns on 12/31), preferably in the afternoon but earlier is ok. We travel to Rio Chirripo Retreat on the 2nd, leaving our hotel in the morning, around 7-8 am. We leave for San Jose on the 8 of Feb. Plan to fly out of Costa Rica on Feb 9, preferably in the morning but any time will do.
For the 2nd Event: Plan to arrive in San Jose Feb 23 (Interns arrive by the afternoon of Feb 22) preferably in the afternoon but earlier is ok. We travel to Rio Chirripo Retreat on the 24th, leaving our hotel in the morning, around 7-8 am. Plan to fly out of Costa Rica on March 29, preferably in the morning but any time will do.
This year's fasts promise to be the best events of this type that I have ever put together. I am excited about every aspect of this program and look forward to seeing you there.
In healthy abundance naturally,

Fasting is an experience you will never forget, one you will draw upon for a lifetime. While it is very centering, it also can bring you to extremes; it can be a most wonderful experience or it can be terrible. Usually, when it is a negative experience, it is because the climate, the surroundings, the staff, or the guidance was lacking in some way. After over 30 visits to Costa Rica, and 25 years of supervising fasts, I have chosen this year's fasting site with your best interests in mind.
